Company overview: Wifinity builds and operates campus and MDU broadband networks throughout the UK and is best known for its services to the public sector, Ministry of Defence and holiday parks. Wifinity has industry-leading technology, with significant barriers to entry in its core markets.

Our initial investment: One of the two founders was looking to leave Wifinity, whilst the other was also looking to realise some cash. The business had a number of contract opportunities in new and existing sectors, for which it required funding, as well as a need for more management expertise to deliver them. We introduced a Group CFO shortly after completion, who brought significant experience within Sales, Operations and Finance.

Building value: In November 2020, Wifinity completed the significant acquisition of the company that owned the Mediaforce and Optify brands. The acquisition extended Wifinity’s activities with the MoD, student accommodation and MDU arenas.

In September 2021, Wifinity completed a sale via a management buy-out led by Lloyds Development Capital. Literacy Capital re-invested 100% of its proceeds at completion, retaining a minority stake in Wifinity. The business plans to invest significantly and expand its reach across the UK.

Exit: In January 2026, Literacy announced the sale of its entire shareholding in Wifinity to Arcus Infrastructure Partners, a European-focused infrastructure fund. Literacy realised a 5.2x MoM return and an IRR of 22.3%.
